India’s ambition is to become a regional centre for the production and export of green hydrogen, and aims to produce 5 million tons a year of clean fuel by 2035, according to information monitored by the specialist energy platform.
In this context, the Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal announced the establishment of green hydrogen fuel and ammonia facilities at 3 ports for the country’s first time.
In a press release, the ministry said the three ports were Paradeep East, Kandla West and Tuticorin South.
Green hydrogen production depends entirely on renewable sources of energy; It is produced through water electrolysis and produces little or no emissions.
India aims to reduce carbon emissions from the shipping sector, making all major freight ports fully self-sufficient from electricity by 2030.
