Tata, the owner of the Jaguar Land Rover, said it planned to build a four billion pound ($ 4.62 billion) battery plant in the UK, a move the British government says will save about 4,000 jobs.
BA Media reported that the plant, which is hesitant to be set up in Somerset County in the south-west of the country, will become one of Europe’s largest battery cell manufacturing sites when production begins in 2026, according to Germany yesterday.
Natarajan Chandrasekaran, head of the company, said, “Our investment of billions of pounds will bring the latest technology to the country, which will help drive the transformation of the automotive sector into electric transition.”
