Iran and Uzbekistan have signed 11 memorandums of understanding to strengthen energy, trade and economic relations, according to media.
Today, in Tehran, a number of Iranian ministers and senior officials, under the auspices of the Presidents of the two countries, signed 11 bilateral cooperation documents with their Uzbek counterparts.
The signing of the memorandums of understanding during the visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shaukat Mirzyaev, is the head of a high-level political and economic delegation to Tehran today, in response to the invitation of his Iranian counterpart, Ibrahim Raiki.
According to IRNA, the memorandums of understanding signed by today’s countries included several areas of common interest, including preferential trade, transport and transit, pharmaceutical cooperation, insurance, the establishment of common economic free zones and the development of an operational plan for technical and agricultural cooperation between Tehran and Tashkent.
The Iranian President and his Uzbek counterpart had held a bilateral summit at the conclusion of the signing ceremony of the memorandums, and negotiations had thus begun between members of the visiting Uzbek delegation and their Iranian counterparts.
