The Japanese government is considering introducing a target date for the start of commercial production of artificial or electronic fuels for the first half of the 1930s.
Japan finances the development of e-fuels through the “Green Innovation Fund”, where the original goal is to produce fuel commercially by 2040.
The Committee’s documents showed that Japan would increase its support to UNFPA to speed up the start date of production.
E-fuel, produced through hydrogen CO2 mixing, continues to face cost challenges, depending on the price of hydrogen, with the Commission estimating the cost from 300 to 700 Japanese yen per litre.
