Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said that he is seeking to develop economic measures next month, and accordingly he will notify his government to draw up an additional budget.
This came in statements made by Kishida to journalists, on Wednesday, after a cabinet reshuffle.
According to Bloomberg News, Kishida said that he will take strong economic steps, including gasoline subsidies, and will also implement more policies aimed at abolishing the high wage cap.
He added that he will make a decision on the development of a political calendar to give priority to the rapid implementation of economic measures.
He added that he will work to ensure that wage increases remain higher than prices.
Earlier today, Kishida carried out a cabinet reshuffle, appointing an unprecedented five female ministers in an attempt to boost his government’s sagging popularity.
Kishida hopes the Cabinet reshuffle will boost his administration’s popularity, paving the way for the LDP to win the upcoming lower house elections.
Japan’s Kyodo news agency reported that out of 19 ministers, he chose 11 new faces, but kept a number of key ministers to maintain stability.
Kishida appointed former Justice Minister Yoko Kamikawa to the post of foreign minister.
