Kazakhstan’s Vice Minister of Energy, Erlan Akkenzhenov, said that Kazakhstan is considering purchasing jet fuel from Turkmenistan.
“The Turkmen aviation fuel has already been examined in Kazakhstan, and the ministry is awaiting the laboratory’s findings before deciding whether to import it on a regular basis,” Akkenzhenov said.
“Turkmenistan, like us, is an oil nation. They have processing plants. They often export their goods across the Caspian Sea. We investigated testing aviation gasoline produced in Turkmenistan at the beginning of this year. Appropriate quantities of aviation kerosene were purchased for this purpose. He was taken straight to the laboratory. We are awaiting the results of this laboratory,” Kazakhstan’s Vice Minister of Energy added.
“Due to the high transportation expenses, the import of gasoline and diesel from Turkmenistan is not being considered,” he said.
“There is something called the supply economy. The product’s price includes transportation. When we consider transportation distance, Turkmenistan will be considerably more expensive than other nations than the Russian Federation. The solution is self-evident. This is our shared border, the longest between Russia and Kazakhstan,” Akkenzhenov said.
However, Akkenzhenov stressed that Kazakhstan is willing to explore all options for diversifying its fuel imports.
