Kazakhstan has further reduced production at the Kashajan oil giant to more than a third of total production to allow further gas leakage checks.
The project, in which international companies invested $ 55 billion, cut their daily production by about 170 thousand barrels, compared with an initial production cut of about 100 thousand barrels when hydrogen sulfide gas was first detected in some wells last month, according to these people.
It will take several more days to find the source of the leak and check the wells.
Data showed Kazakhstan’s production of crude oil and light oil called condensate reached 227,400 tons on June 1, or 1.67 million barrels, using a conversion factor of 7.33 barrels per ton, according to data released by a unit of the country’s Ministry of Energy. Less than 1.76 million barrels on May 30 and 1.86 million barrels on May 19.
