Officials of the Kazakh oil company “KazMunayGas” revealed ongoing discussions with the Chinese oil company “CNPC” to expand the pipeline between the two countries, in order to boost Kazakh oil exports to Asia’s largest oil consumer.
Specifically, discussions are under way to expand the Kinkyak-Attir pipeline to carry 12 million tons per year of 6 million, and the Kinkyak-Kumkul pipeline of about 15 million tons per year of 10 million tons per year at the moment, according to Oil Price.
The previous week, the CEO of the Kazakh Oil Company, Mirzagaliev, said that the cost of expanding the planned pipelines was about $200 million, with work to begin by next year, and its completion in two or three years.
