According to official statistics in the Kazakh Republic, domestic flour production fell by 15% per month to only 256.7 thousand tons in May this year.
Although the production of flour decreased monthly during this season, it is higher than last year’s total, with 9 months of flour production of 2.66 million tons during the period from 2022/2023, compared with 2.42 million tons for the same period of the previous season.
Almost half of the total flour volume was produced in the Kostanay region, which recorded 1.02 million tons during September and May 2022/2023, although the region’s production volume in May 2023 was the lowest during the entire season, reaching 86.18 thousand tons, driven by export restrictions for the product while facing some challenges in its marketing process.
