The Kazakh Ministry of energy is considering importing “ai95” gasoline from Russia, as the Shymkent refinery will be stopped for maintenance work this month amid high demand.
The ministry explained in an e-mail that the refinery is expected to stop working from the third of July to the 14th, according to the “Bloomberg” News Agency.
The Atyrau gasoline refinery “ai95” will increase to 45 thousand metric tons in July from the planned amount of 20 thousand tons, while the Shymkent refinery will reduce the production of gasoline “ai95” by 29 thousand tons.
Plans are still in place to produce ai92 gasoline at more than one thousand tons and 140 thousand tons at the Atyrau and Shymkent refineries, respectively.
“Kazakhstan will make a voluntary reduction of 78 thousand barrels per day until the end of December 2024 as a precautionary measure in coordination with the countries participating in the OPEC + agreement, which earlier announced voluntary cuts in April, “the statement said.
The statement added that this voluntary reduction will be compared with the required production level agreed at the 35th ministerial meeting of”OPEC +” on June 4, 2023.
