Kazakhstan’s Energy Minister, Almasadam Sätqaliev, revealed the measures to be taken regarding the gas shortage in Kazakhstan during his participation in the KazEnergy forum.
“The Ministry of Energy plans to reduce gas supplies to China and increase its imports from Russia,” Sätqaliev said, according to “Sputnik.”
“The supply is carried out at the expense of internal Kazakh resources, but due to the growing consumption within the country, this volume will decrease as gas consumption facilities are put into operation and gas prices on the domestic market gradually increase,” he explained.
“Kazakhstan and Russia have a “certain agreement” on the supply of Russian gas,” Sätqaliev added.
“Our gas deficit, depending on the terrain of the gas pipelines, will be covered as much as possible with Russian gas,” Kazakhstan’s Energy Minister said.
“For additional supplies of Russian and Kazakh gas to the south, the second line of the Bozoi-Pino-Shymkent gas pipeline is currently being built,” he explained.
Kazakhstan’s Energy Minister said that by 2030, Kazakhstan plans to increase oil production to more than 100 million tons.
