The amount of IT services in Kazakhstan is continuously increasing, with the sector’s income increasing by 56.4% in the first half of 2023 compared to the same time the previous year.
Almaty and Astana, Kazakhstan’s two largest cities, account for 90.4% of the country’s total IT services. In Almaty, the volume of IT services climbed by 28.2% in the first half of 2023, to 215.4 billion tenge ($452 million US), while it increased nearly twice as much in Astana, to 212.1 billion tenge ($445 million US).
The West Kazakhstan area ranks third, with 7.1 billion tenge ($14.9 million US) in IT services volume, a considerable rise from the 1.6 billion tenge ($3.3 million US) reported in the first half of 2022.
The regions with the slowest growth rates in IT services were Ulytau, Turkestan, and Zhetysu.
A number of government measures are supporting the expansion of Kazakhstan’s IT sector, including the creation of IT faculties in higher education institutions and the building of IT schools around the nation.
