South Korea’s exports of information and communications technology (ICT) products fell for the 11th consecutive month in May due to an ongoing economic slowdown and declining demand for semiconductors, data showed on Wednesday, according to Yonhap.
Exports of ICT products reached $14.5 billion last month, down 28.5% from $20.2 billion the previous year, according to data compiled by the Ministry of Science and ICT.
Monthly exports of ICT products have been declining since July last year.
Overseas sales of screens fell 12% year-on-year to $1.6 billion, and sales of mobile phones and computers fell 17.2% and 53.1% to $920 million and $830 million, respectively.
Semiconductor exports, accounting for nearly half of all ICT shipments, fell 35.7% year-on-year to $7.5 billion.
