The president of Kyrgyzstan gave the green light to the creation of a digital mining farm at the Kampar-Ata-2 hydropower plant.
According to local media, this project is expected to require investments of approximately 20 million dollars and serves as a potential solution to address the energy losses suffered by the power plant during certain periods.
The Kambar-Ata-2 hydroelectric power station, which began operations in 2010, has the capacity to produce 120 MW of energy per year.
Despite the capacity that the plant can produce, currently only 90 MW of this capacity is used, wasting the remaining 30 MW in the environment.
This inefficiency led to a significant financial loss of more than 37 million dollars for the plant.
He explained that the crypto mining facility may temporarily stop operations during the winter months when the power plant productivity is lower.
