The Egyptian government has announced an extension of the car import initiative for Egyptians abroad for an additional three months, starting on February 1st.
The Minister of Immigration and Egyptian Affairs Abroad, Saha Gendi, stated in a statement on Facebook that the three-month deadline serves as a last opportunity for those interested in importing a car who have not previously benefited from the initiative.
The Minister of Immigration explained that the recommendation to reopen the car initiative was one of the most important recommendations of the conference for Egyptians abroad held in July, indicating that the government has been monitoring the interest and desire of many who are still inquiring about how to benefit from it.
She pointed out that the initiative allows various facilitations for any Egyptian resident abroad, whether permanently or temporarily, immigrant or with dual citizenship, to bring a car personally in their name or in the name of any of their family members, whether the wife or children over the age of 16 who reside with them abroad.
The Minister of Immigration and Egyptian Affairs Abroad emphasized that the initiative requires that imported cars from previous owners not be more than 3 years old at the time of customs clearance.
