Iran, with the participation of Russia, Turkmenistan and Qatar, is seeking to establish a gas hub in Aslawi industrial zone in the southern province of Bushehr, located on Gulf shores, Oil Minister Javad Awji said.
In details, the Iranian Minister said that his country, with its 33 trillion cubic metres recyclable gas reserve, ranked second in the world in terms of that resource’s reserve.
He added: “We are striving to help Russia, Turkmenistan and Qatar, to turn the Gulf and Isli into a gas centre,” according to Iran’s ISNA news agency.
The Minister did not elaborate on the project, indicating that preparations and planning were currently under way.
Al-Awji said last month that Iran and Russia were discussing the development of 10 new oil and gas fields in the Islamic Republic.
According to him, the Iranian authorities are negotiating with Gazprom, with which joint ventures are estimated at $40 billion.
In particular, Gazprom is considering the possibility of developing the Kish and North Pars fields with a subsequent gas liquidation and supply project to global markets.
Last month, NIOC CEO Mohsen Khojasthmer announced that Tehran could produce oil and gas over the next 100 years, thanks to its current reserves.
