OpenAI’s revenues exceeded the two billion dollar mark on an annual basis, thanks to the success of its flagship artificial intelligence product, “ChatGPT”, which has positioned the company as one of the fastest-growing technology firms in history, according to Reuters.
According to two informed individuals, the annual operating rate of the startup company, based in San Francisco, reached two billion dollars in December 2023.
The two individuals added that the company backed by “Microsoft” believes that it can double this number in 2025, thanks to the strong interest from corporate customers who seek to use “Open AI” technology to adopt generative artificial intelligence tools in the workplace, according to the “Financial Times” newspaper.
It is expected that this exceptional growth will place “Open AI” among a few companies in Silicon Valley (including Google and Meta) that have generated revenues of billions of dollars within a decade of their establishment.
The “Open AI” was launched as a non-profit artificial intelligence research laboratory in 2015, but has since become a commercial giant after establishing a business arm in 2020. According to “Za Information,” a technology magazine, its annual revenue reached $1.3 billion as of October last year, with sales growth continuing to accelerate.
