The President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Odil Renault Basu, visits Kazakhstan from 7 to 9 June 2003 to hold meetings with senior government officials, multilateral financial institutions and foreign investors.
During her three-day programme, the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will meet with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and hold bilateral meetings with the leadership of the Asian Development Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
The President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will co-chair the plenary session of the Council of Foreign Investors, which marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of its activity in 2023, and address the Astana International Forum and the World Business Women’s Council.
In the context of these engagements, Odell Renault Basu will address the importance of digitization and accelerating climate transformation, the need for further improvement of Kazakhstan’s business environment through reforms, interregional communication issues and diversification of the State economy.
With more than 10 billion euros invested in the country so far through 304 projects, Kazakhstan is the European Bank’s largest and longest banking operation for reconstruction and development in Central Asia.
At the COP27 Climate Conference in 2022, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank announced (EIB) and the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), with the support of the European Union (EU), have launched the Blue Mediterranean Partnership, which aims to promote the development of a sustainable blue economy in the European Union’s southern neighbours in the Mediterranean region, and donors such as Sweden and Spain have expressed their support.
