Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Mohammed has announced discussions with US billionaire Elon Musk to discuss Tesla’s investments in electric vehicles in his country as well as SpaceX satellite communications services.
“I welcome the company’s interest and decision to invest in Malaysia and Elon Musk’s desire to come to Malaysia.”
Malaysia this year approved a request from Tesla to supply battery electric vehicles to the country. The Ministry of Commerce said Tesla would open an office, showrooms and service centres in the country and establish a network of charging stations for its vehicles.
He also discussed with Musk Starlink’s satellite communications service launched by the US billionaire and operated by his company SpaceX.
Last May, the head of US electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla researched Elon Musk in Beijing, with Chinese Industry Minister Jin Chuang Long “developing new powered vehicles and connected smart cars.”
