Qatar’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GCAA) signed a memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Almaty on Wednesday to increase transport rights for both passenger and cargo flights.
According to a statement by the authority, the memorandum provided for an increase in the number of weekly passenger flights to 14 flights with an additional 7 flights to Almaty, bringing the total weekly flights to that city to 14 flights.
This comes in addition to 7 additional flights to Astana for a total of 14 flights per week, and the memorandum also stipulated an increase in the number of air cargo flights to 10 flights per week.
The signing of the memorandum of understanding comes after the holding of a bilateral talks session between the two parties, and the Qatari side was headed by Mohammed Al-Hajri, who is in charge of conducting the work of the authority, while the Kazakh side was headed by Talgat lastayev, head of the Civil Aviation Authority of Kazakhstan.
The signing came in the context of joint efforts to strengthen cooperation and hinder economic and trade relations between the two countries, and reflects the increasing demand for shipping services between them, and the growing economic potential in both countries.
The two parties confirmed their commitment to strengthen cooperation in the field of Civil Aviation and make the most of the opportunities available to achieve this, and agreed on the need to speed up the internal procedures related to obtaining the necessary approvals for the final signing of the text of the initialed air services agreement.
