Qatar is making significant strides in establishing itself as a premier global destination for tourism and leisure with the launch of the $5.5 billion Simaisma Project. Unveiled by Qatar’s Ministry of Municipality and Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company, this ambitious development will span eight million square meters and extend along seven kilometers of pristine beachfront on Qatar’s eastern coast.
Introduced at the Sheraton Hotel, the Simaisma Project is expected to become a prominent urban landmark, enhancing Qatar’s array of distinctive tourist destinations. Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah, the Minister of Municipality, highlighted the project’s importance in achieving the Qatar National Vision 2030, emphasizing its role in building a more prosperous, stable, and sustainable future for the nation.
Ali bin Mohamed Al-Ali, CEO of Qatari Diar, stated that the Simaisma Project would set a new regional tourism standard, aligning with Qatar’s continued economic growth trajectory. The event was attended by Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, underscoring the project’s national significance.
The Simaisma Project will feature 16 tourism zones for private-sector development, including uniquely designed resorts spread across four zones, a world-class theme park, an 18-hole golf course, residential villas, a yacht marina, and luxury restaurants and retailers. This integrated tourism development is poised to create lucrative investment opportunities, bolstering the private sector and attracting foreign direct investments.
As Qatar pursues the ambitious goals of its Third National Development Strategy 2024-2030, the Simaisma Project represents a significant step towards enhancing the role of non-oil sectors in the economy. The project promises to transform Qatar’s tourism landscape, positioning the country as a key player on the global tourism stage.
