Russian President Vladimir Putin and the presidents of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, launched Russian gas supplies to Uzbekistan.
“The implementation of this project will have obvious benefits for the three countries,” Putin said.
“Uzbekistan will receive an energy source that will ensure a continuous supply of heat and electricity,” he added.
“Kazakhstan will be able to resolve the issue of gasification in its northern and eastern regions,” according to Putin.
Kazakhstan’s president, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, called the transit of Russian gas through Kazakhstan a historic event.
