Russia’s Gazprom PJSC said that its shipments of natural gas to China had reached a new historic level amid high demand.
“China’s National Oil Company ordered quantities of gas via Power of Siberia-1 on November 23 in excess of Gazprom’s contractual obligations,” Gazprom said in a statement carried by state news agency TASS.
“Gazprom has provided all the required quantities and set a new record for daily gas supplies to China,” the statement added.
Last month, Gazprom and China’s National Oil Company signed a supplement to their gas supply contract via Power of Siberia-1, which provides for additional deliveries until 2023 without providing further details.
Russia is targeting the export of 30 billion cubic meters of gas to China next year, eventually increasing flows to 38 billion cubic meters per year.
