The Russian Ministry of Energy reported that the opening of the Far East Road will increase the supply of natural gas to China by 10 billion cubic meters per year.
The Russian company Gazprom said earlier that “after the completion of the project, the volume of Russian gas exports to China will reach 48 billion cubic meters per year.”
The agreement was signed between Moscow and Beijing on January 31, 2023, setting out the terms of cooperation in the supply of gas from Russia to China via the Far East route, regulating civil, tax and customs issues, as well as procedures for resolving any disputes that may arise.
The accompanying documents indicate that the Convention fully meets Russia’s interests and its ratification will contribute to the development of the Russian gas transport system, as well as constructive economic and investment cooperation between the two States in the energy sector.
