The Saudi Development Fund announced its readiness to provide a loan of 100 million dollars for the construction of the Rogun hydroelectric power project in Tajikistan.
Thus, the Saudi Development Fund becomes the first among the global development funds that have expressed their desire to finance the Rogun project, the embassy of Saudi Arabia in Dushanbe told “Asia Plus.”
“The funds that can be allocated for the completion of Rogun make up half of the total financial assistance that this fund has provided to the Republic since 2002,” according to “Asia Plus.”
The embassy of Saudi Arabia in Dushanbe classifies this project as one of the “largest in the region,” which “can become an important factor in the development of Tajikistan and the countries of Central Asia,” and also notes the importance of the Rogun project from an environmental point of view.
