Saudi Arabia and HD Hyundai are seeking to expand joint cooperation to include, along with shipbuilding, projects in the field of environmentally friendly energy.
“We are constantly looking for opportunities for future joint development,” the group’s Vice President Chung Ki-sun told South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency, noting that his group is interested in renewable energy projects in Saudi Arabia.
Hyundai Shipbuilding and Heavy Equipment Group is implementing a number of projects in Saudi Arabia, including the joint shipyard, where it is considered to be Hyundai Heavy Industries is a key partner in Saudi Arabia’s Global Marine Industries Company, a joint venture between Korean and Saudi Aramco, Maritime, and Lamprell. It is the largest shipyard in the Middle East and North Africa, with an area of approximately 12 million square meters.
