Tajikistan’s export volume has significantly decreased due to the fall in the delivery of non-ferrous and precious metals to foreign markets.
“BAOR, the foreign trade deficit in January–August 2023 compared to the same period of the previous year increased by 60% and equaled 2.8 billion dollars,” according to the report of the Eurasian Development Bank.
Economists say that Tajikistan’s export volume has significantly decreased due to the fall in the delivery of gold and non-precious metals such as aluminum to foreign markets.
At the same time, imports have increased due to the increase in domestic demand in the economy.
In particular, according to the report of the Eurasian Development Bank, the monthly growth rate of imports has slowed down, and in August it became negative.
The process of negative import volume was registered for the first time since February 2023.
