Tajikistan’s Deputy Prime Minister, Matlubahon Sattoriyon, said that declining water resources, frequent droughts, and melting glaciers threaten Tajikistan’s sustainable development.
“Floods, droughts, and other severe weather phenomena that occurred in recent years caused serious damage to the country’s economy and hindered our efforts to achieve sustainable development,” Sattoriyon said during the Asian Conference on Natural Disaster Risk Reduction in Dushanbe.
“Climate change poses a common threat to all Asian countries,” according to Tajikistan’s Deputy Prime Minister.
“It is possible to prevent and reduce the consequences of natural disasters only by combining technological and financial efforts,” Sattoriyon said.
