Elon Musk, Tesla’s head of electric vehicles, announced that the company will open a branch in India “at the earliest opportunity.” Musk’s announcement came after a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on an official visit to the United States.
The Indian Government said that it had invited Musk to explore investment opportunities in the electric transport sector, as well as India’s commercial space sector.
The American billionaire confirmed that he was waiting for the right moment to do this huge project in India.
The Indian Prime Minister’s meeting with Musk, who also owns Twitter, comes days after Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey criticized India’s threat to close the platform for not complying with the authorities’ orders to delete content from the website. Dorsey’s criticism came in a dialogue with an independent news platform.
