Crude oil imports from Russia to Pakistan have been stopped due to a malfunction in the production of mineral oil and gasoline during the refining process, according to sources in the energy sector.
Industry sources told energyportal that the Pakistan Refinery decided to temporarily stop the entire Russian oil refining, despite the insistence of former minister of state Mosaddegh Malik, and the refinery pointed to a significant increase in oil oil production, by 20% more than Arab crude oil, as the reason for this decision.
It was noted that only two ships of crude oil from Russia arrived at the port of Karachi on June 11 and 26, and no Russian oil shipments have arrived in Pakistan since then.
Experts noted that the purchase of Russian oil may be beneficial for Pakistan only if the prices of Brent crude oil and Arabian Sea light oil increase further, while the price of Russian oil has remained stable. However, they believe that the chances of such a situation are limited.
The suspension of Russian crude oil imports in Pakistan is an important development in the country’s energy sector.
This issue acquires political and diplomatic significance, since Pakistan has always kept secret the price of Russian oil and the date of its arrival.
