Thomson Reuters announced today, Thursday, that it has offered to acquire the specialized Swedish company Pagero , which deals with electronic invoicing and tax transactions, for 6.4 billion Swedish kronor (about $627 million), surpassing a previous offer made by Vertex Tax Technology.
The news and information company added that it offered to pay 40 kronor in cash for each share in “Pagero”, which represents a premium of 11 percent above the closing price of Pagero’s shares yesterday, Wednesday.
Thomson Reuters’ offer exceeds the 36 krona offer per share announced by Vertex to acquire Pagero .
In a separate statement, the company Pagero stated that the independent bid committee, affiliated with the board of directors, unanimously recommended accepting the public offer presented by Thomson Reuters and withdrew its recommendation to accept the Vertex offer.
Thomson Reuters, the parent company of Reuters News, announced that the expansion of electronic billing compliance capabilities in Pagero will enhance the offerings of indirect taxes.
The company stated in a statement that the period for accepting the offer begins on January 12th or shortly thereafter and ends on February 9th or shortly thereafter.
