The UAE Ministry of Investment and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of Egypt signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop a comprehensive framework for investment cooperation in the field of digital infrastructure, especially in Egypt’s data center projects.
The memorandum of understanding was signed by the UAE Minister of Investment, Mohamed al-Suwaidi, and Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talat.
The data centers to be developed under this Convention can have a total operational capacity of 1,000 megawatts, as the growing demand for Egypt’s data centers is due to the “Digital Egypt” strategy, a well-established and comprehensive plan to promote the digital economy through the development of digitization across key regional industries.
The digital strategy also aims to streamline Egypt’s access to government services, expand digital infrastructure to ensure widespread Internet access, and promote entrepreneurship and digital innovation.
