UAE and Japan trade turnover reached 3.8 billion dollars (13.9 billion dirhams) during the month of August, compared to 5.3 billion dollars (19.45 billion dirhams) during the same period last year.
The volume of Japanese exports to the UAE amounted to 641 million dollars (2.3 billion dirhams) in August, with a growth of 14.7 percent, while Japan’s imports from the UAE amounted to 3.2 billion dollars (11.7 billion dirhams), with a decrease of 33.2 percent, according to data issued by the Japan Foreign Trade Organization.
During the first eight months of 2023, the total trade volume between the two countries reached 30 billion dollars (110.1 billion dirhams), compared to 34.3 billion dollars (126.1 billion dirhams) in the corresponding period of 2022, a decrease of 12.5%.
The volume of Japanese exports to the UAE amounted to 6.2 billion dollars (22.7 billion dirhams) during the first eight months of 2023, with a growth of 17.9% from 5.27 billion dollars (19.3 billion dirhams) in the corresponding period of 2022.
Japan’s imports from the UAE amounted to 23.8 billion dollars (87.34 billion dirhams) in the first eight months of this year, a decrease of 18 percent from 29.1 billion dollars (106.7 billion dirhams) in the corresponding period of 2022.
During the first half of 2023, the volume of non-oil trade between the two countries reached 7.4 billion dollars, an increase of 4.2% compared to the same period in 2022, according to a statement issued by the ministry.
The value of the UAE’s non-oil exports to Japan exceeded 718 million dollars. Imports from Japan to the UAE amounted to USD 6.3 billion during the first half of the year, and the value of re-export trade from the UAE to Japan amounted to USD 421 million.
