UAE’s Minister of Economy, Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, attended the inaugural GCC-China economy and trade ministerial meeting in Guangzhou in the presence of GCC Secretary General Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi, GCC ministers of economy and trade, and Chinese Minister of Trade Wang Wen Tao.
“The UAE has made significant progress in building an integrated and pioneering circular economy system in compliance with worldwide best practices under the supervision of its smart leadership. The UAE Circular Economy Agenda 2031 calls for the implementation of 22 circular economy initiatives that will help the country achieve greater sustainability during the following decade,” Bin Touq said.
“The UAE has also created a number of tourism policies and initiatives, most notably the “National Tourism Strategy 2031,” with the goal of sustaining development in tourist and aviation sector results and indicators, increasing the attractiveness of the national economy for tourism investments, and strengthening its leadership in the global tourism and travel scene,” he added.
On the margins of the conference, the Minister of Economy met with Wang Wentao, the People’s Republic of China’s Minister of Commerce, in the presence of Hussein bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, the UAE Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, and a number of officials from both countries. The summit discussed methods to improve UAE-China cooperation in a variety of economic activities and areas, including the new economy, energy, manufacturing, renewable energy, health, transportation, entrepreneurship, and technology.
Bin Touq emphasized in his statement at the conference that the GCC-China relationship was founded 42 years ago and is still undergoing continuous development and productive collaboration in many sectors today, owing to the unwavering support of both leaderships.
“The summit represents a new chapter of constructive collaboration between the GCC and the Republic of China. We look forward to extending our relationship, supporting sustainable development initiatives, and attaining prosperity for our peoples through this platform,” Bin Touq stated.
“All themes covered at the summit are of particular relevance in light of global developments that may effect global economic growth,” he added.
“Trade and economic cooperation are the primary engines of the burgeoning GCC-China economic alliance,” Bin Touq said.
“Building on these solid foundations, we are eager to explore new avenues for diversification and expansion to cover a broader variety of economic activities, including new economic sectors that contain many intriguing prospects and will boost competitiveness and efficiency,” he added.
