The United Arab Emirates has succeeded in achieving advanced positions in future readiness indicators as a result of the wise leadership’s thinking and philosophy, which focused on preparing for and planning for the future.
The country has embraced innovation as the foundation for comprehensive development, embodying the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Head of State, and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Deputy Head of State, the Prime Minister, and the Governor of Dubai.
The UAE government has implemented clear strategic visions for the future, as well as a specific roadmap to achieve comprehensive qualitative achievements in various vital sectors that will enhance the sustainable prosperity of the country.
This will ensure the establishment of a solid future for future generations, away from reliance on oil resources.
In the context of building on the approach of enhancing readiness for the future, the announcement of the Ten Principles of the UAE in the New Fifty document came, along with the launch of the Fifty Projects, to support the implementation of these principles that form a framework for the future.
They focus on building the world’s best and most active economy, investing in human capital, developing education, attracting talent, continuously building skills, and enhancing digital, technological, and scientific excellence.
According to global indicators, the UAE ranked first globally in 20 indicators of future opportunities readiness, and ranked 23rd globally and first in the Arab world in seizing opportunities in future sectors among advanced and emerging economies, according to the “Global Future Opportunities Index” report for the year 2024 issued by the global institution Newsweek Vantage and the Swiss research group Horizon.
The government of the United Arab Emirates has also achieved the first place globally in responding to changes, and second place globally after Singapore in the Future Vision Index, surpassing both the United Kingdom and South Korea.
Additionally, it has achieved the second place globally in supporting the government’s entrepreneurship environment, surpassing Singapore, Switzerland, the United States, and Denmark. It ranked third globally in long-term future planning and government future strategy.
As the first globally in attractiveness and stability, in the size of international talents, and in the number of competitive talents in working age, and the first globally in the size of talents in developing future digital software, and the number of students studying in state universities in new fields, and the size of the UAE market for its advanced economic capabilities for consumers, the country also ranked first globally in digital communication indicators and widespread use of the World Wide Web, and the advanced digital infrastructure for communications including the speed of mobile data network and the number of users and subscribers to mobile phone services.
The United Arab Emirates also ranked first among Arab countries in future opportunities indicators that will highlight future global trends, ranking first in indicators of future opportunities in the circular economy and advanced digital economy “Exabytes / Big Data” and the experience economy, in addition to quality of life economy and the circular economy.
In order to enhance the readiness of the government work for the future, the Government Development and Future Office launched the “UAE Mission for the Future” to serve as a national platform for proactive design of quality projects, aiming to embody the directions of the wise leadership in focusing on proactive design and implementation of quality and practical projects that enhance the state’s readiness for the future.
The UAE Future Mission will work to empower government entities in the future agenda by designing initiatives to collectively enhance the country’s readiness for the future between the Government Development Office, the Future Office, and government entities in the UAE.
The participating entity in the mission will be responsible for executing the readiness project and achieving clear results and a defined impact.
In order to encourage state institutions to design practical and impactful projects that enhance the industry of the future and achieve foresight and readiness in a rapidly evolving world, “The Future Readiness Initiative” was launched.
It grants federal and local institution projects that adopt futuristic vision and bold ideas, and designs and implements proactive and exceptional projects.
It invests in skills preparation for the future, applies advanced technologies in a practical manner to achieve future readiness, and produces clear and impactful results.
The focus of future readiness lies in future readiness projects designed in priority sectors, including the new economy, food and water security, environmental sustainability, as well as future technology and skills and quality of life.
This reflects the UAE’s leadership and commitment to enhancing a culture of future readiness and proactiveness in its design across various vital sectors.
