Uzbekistan imported products and services from 172 countries between January and September 2023, totaling $27,014.8 million, according to the Republic’s Statistics Agency.
This marks a 21.2% increase over the same period in 2022.
China, Russia, Kazakhstan, the Republic of Korea, Turkey, Germany, and Turkmenistan accounted for more than two-thirds of Uzbekistan’s imports.
Tashkent, Uzbekistan’s capital, accounted for 50.1% of total imports, while Surkhandarya, the country’s smallest province, contributed 0.3%.
Imports were dominated by machinery and equipment (33.3%), chemicals (16.6%), and food goods (13.8%).
Imports have increased due to the country’s expanding economy and rising demand for foreign goods and services.
The government of Uzbekistan has been undertaking a variety of steps to stimulate trade and investment, including tariff reductions and simplifying customs procedures.
