Official statistics revealed that grain farmers in Uzbekistan produced more than 8.1 million tons of grain, exceeding the average yield on irrigated areas of 70.5 cents per hectare.
In particular, the grain yield amounted to 74.8 cents per hectare in the Bukhara region, 74.2 cents in the Tashkent region, and 73.8 cents in the Samarkand region.
In order to increase yields, instead of biologically obsolete varieties, the sowing area was expanded to 585 thousand hectares with 12 new varieties (including 8 domestic varieties) of high-yielding winter wheat resistant to adverse weather conditions.
The average yield in Uzbekistan was 71-73 cents. Some farms achieved yields ranging from 95 to 100 cents.
