Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy announced that it intends to start importing Russian gas as of October 1.
“All the necessary infrastructure and gas pipelines are ready to receive high-pressure gas,” the press secretary of the Uzbek Ministry of Energy, Hasan Tashkhodzhayev, said, according to “TASS” news agency.
Earlier, during the International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg, the Uzbek government signed a two-year contract with Gazprom for the supply of natural gas to the republic, with an annual supply of around 2.8 billion cubic meters.
On June 16, at the International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg, an agreement was signed on the supply of Russian gas to Uzbekistan and a “road map” for preparing the republic’s gas transportation system to receive Russian gas.
According to the Uzbek Ministry of Energy, as part of the contract, it is scheduled to start importing 9 million cubic meters of natural gas per day on October 1 of this year.
