Uzbekistan intends to triple Russian oil imports through Kazakhstan, from 154 to 500 thousand tons per year, the director of the transportation department of KazTransOil JSC, Abai Beisembayev, said.
“The Sanoat Energetika Guruhi firm (SANEG) filed an application to Kaztransoil JSC for the transit of 500 thousand tons of Russian oil to Uzbekistan for 2024, with the option of growing to one million tons,” Beisembayev said.
“500 thousand tons of Russian oil are scheduled to pass across Kazakhstan’s borders to Uzbekistan next year,” he added.
Uzbekistan’s Energy Minister, Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, stressed the country’s preparedness to increase imports of Russian oil and petroleum products.
KazTransOil transports Russian oil across Kazakhstani territory to Uzbekistan in accordance with the oil supply timetable set by Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy.
