Uzbekistan’s state budget deficit has reached almost 40 trillion soms in eight months, according to data from the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
The deficit of the unified budget of Uzbekistan amounted to 5.7%; according to the results of the first half of the year, expenses exceeded revenues by 26.9 trillion soums. This is more than the indicators of the 2020 pandemic, as well as in 2021–2022.
Over the years, Uzbekistan has never reached this deficit limit.
The deficit in the unified budget of Uzbekistan amounted to 5.7%. This comes from the report of the Ministry of Economy and Finance on the implementation of the budget, according to the results of the first six months of 2023.
The “unified budget” includes the state budget, budgets of state trust funds, extrabudgetary funds of budgetary organizations, and funds of the reconstruction and development fund (sovereign fund).
In the first half of the year, revenues to the unified budget amounted to 153.8 trillion soms, and expenses were 180.8 trillion soms.
The deficit amounted to 26.9 trillion soms, or 5.7% of GDP. This is considered much more than in previous years.
