China experienced a steady increase in newly installed clean energy capacity during the first four months of 2023, as the country intensified its efforts to ensure an adequate supply of energy and reduce emissions.
Data from the National Energy Administration showed today (Thursday) that China’s newly installed wind and photovoltaic power capacity reached 62.51 million kilowatts during the January-April period.
This figure represents 74% of the country’s total newly installed capacity, up 11.5 percentage points over last year.
China’s wind and photovoltaic power generation reached 482.8 billion kWh during this period, up 26.8% year-on-year.
By the end of April, China’s installed wind power capacity reached 380 million kilowatts, while its installed photovoltaic capacity reached 440 million kilowatts.
Combined wind and photovoltaic capacity accounts for 30.9% of the country’s combined power generation capacity.
